Dewberry Farm

Wholesome Fun for the Whole Family

By Patricia Alner October 20, 2011

Were you able to enjoy the amazing weather this weekend?  We decided earlier that we were going to find something to do as a family.  Where did we end up going?  We went to Dewberry Farm!  I have a fourteen year old, a nine year old and a three year old and it can be tough to find places that will entertain them all.  All three children exclaimed how much fun that they had at the park.  Upon arrival, we witnessed some hog racing.  We were still walking in the parking lot as we heard them about to start.  My middle son hear the phrase "pig race" and he was sold.  We made out way to the Country Store where I sampled the most delicious dewberry jelly.  When you visit, make sure you pick up a jar for breakfast the next morning.  You will be hooked.  My older children then headed for the ziplines, while we took the little one over to the "pillows"  These are amazing.  Imaging a big outdoor bounce house.  They have these huge "pillows'  that are inflated and you can bounce up and down on.  My daughter was in heaven!

Once the kids have bounced and zipped their hearts out, we made our way over to get a bite to eat.  The younger kids both had hot dogs, but Mom and Dad well we had to go for some barbecue!  My chopped beef sandwich was delish!  My husband had a large plate of bbq including beef, sausage and chicken.  He loved it and ate the whole plate.  Honestly, I was surprised at how tasty lunch was.  It was true authentic Texas barbecue.

We then headed down to the 8 acre corn maze which truely was a neat experience.  My husband has been in one before but this was definately my first time.  The kids had a ball finding their way through the maze.  One of them did end up getting lost and took some time to get out, but was laughing the whole way through.

Before leaving, Samantha and I picked a beautiful bouquet of flowers from their flower patch.  Don't worry, they let you! They even provided the scissors and we were able to pick some of the most beautiful sunflowers that I have seen in quite some time.  I also got some pictures of the kids in the flower beds, they almost looked fake they were so beautiful.   We also headed over to do some mining!  The kids were able to look for and take some some pretty interesting treasures.   Needless to say, a great experience for all of us.  I highly recommend taking your family out to enjoy this family bonding experience.  One tip, you can pick up an adventure pass for 19.00 and I would recommend doing this.  The boys loved being able to go from attraction to attraction without having to worry about tokens.  Have you ever been to Dewberry Farms?  What was your experience?
