Wholesome Fall Fun at Dewberry Farm

By Patricia Alner October 23, 2014

Were you able to enjoy the amazing weather this weekend?  We decided that we were going to find something to do as a family.  Where did we end up going?  We went to Dewberry Farm!  With our twelve year old son and our six year old daughter in tow we headed out to Katy.      We made out way to the Country Store where I sampled the most delicious dewberry jelly.  When you visit, make sure you pick up a jar for breakfast the next morning.  You will be hooked.  My children then headed straight for the zip lines.  I thought they were never going to move on from that attraction alone.

Once the kids had zipped their hearts out, we made our way over to get a bite to eat.  The younger kids both had hot dogs, but Mom and Dad well we had to go for some barbecue!  My chopped beef sandwich was delish!  My husband also had the chopped beef sandwich both of us thought they were very good.  Honestly, I was surprised at how tasty lunch was.  It was true authentic Texas barbecue.

After lunch we headed over to the pedal cars and this was a great way to tire the children out.  They had three different styles of peddle cars.  Little ones for the smaller children, one that only had one tire in the front for the older children and even big ones for the adults.  The children then headed to check out the Pumpkin Holler.  This was really neat!  They had over 500 pumpkins that were lit up and were just beautiful.

After the Pumpkin Holler, we headed over to Zeke's to do some panning for treasures.  My daughter panned for marbles while my older son looked for gemstones.  He had some beautiful rose quartz and some other stones that I wasn't familiar with.  He was thrilled.   Samantha was so surprised when her marbles popped out from the big bag of sand that she was given.  She has been playing with her marbles every day since.  I am always telling her to be careful, and not "loose" her marbles.   She laughs and tells me they are right here...not lost.

While we didn't do this activity this time, Samantha and I picked a beautiful bouquet of flowers from their flower patch last time we were here.  Don't worry, they let you! They even provided the scissors and we were able to pick some of the most beautiful sunflowers that I have seen in quite some time.  We got some great family photos from that trip as well.

Before we headed out for the day, we headed back to the corn maze.  This was loads of fun.  It was huge!  It took us quite a bit of time to get through it.  One of the children got lost for a while but we found him.  It was an exhausting but very entertaining day.

I highly recommend taking your family out to enjoy this family bonding experience.  One tip, you can pick up an adventure pass for 20.00 and I would recommend doing this.  Not only does it save money, but the children loved being able to go from attraction to attraction without having to worry about tokens.

Lastly, if you don't have time to make it for the fall season, they are having loads of fun at Christmas time as well.  You can pick out your own beautiful fresh cut Christmas tree.  Farm admission is free at this time so head out there, enjoy some holiday shopping and the kids will enjoy plenty the activities that this beautiful farm is known for.

Have you ever been to Dewberry Farms?  What was your experience?

While I was not compensated for this post, I did recieve complimentary entry into the farm for myself and my family.  All opinions are my own.
